SYNOPSIS

Tragicomedy from the Muslim side of Beirut in which devout men and women try to manage their love lives and desires without breaking any of their religion’s rules.

DIRECTOR

Assad Fouladkar (born in Lebanon) studied filmmaking at Boston University and lived in Australia before returning to Lebanon, where he taught at the Lebanese American University. His thesis short film GOD HAVE MERCY won 13 international awards and was the finalist at the Oscar competition for Best Student Film. His award-winning feature WHEN MARYAM SPOKE OUT won major awards in the Arab world, Europe and the United States. It was Lebanon’s official entry to the Academy Awards. In recent years, Fouladkar has lived in Egypt and directed various sitcoms and other series.
